Boxers were white way back when they were firetruck dogs (because of their dislike for smoke) it was never a dalmation. This was in europe, the police were impressed with the breed and bread them to darker less visible colors. Later they reached north america- The gene keeps comomg thru, and will come from any color boxer. Youre stupidity, however, can most likely be isolated to a select few. A friend of mine has a male and female boxer (both which are fawn and brindle colored) and on December 23rd the female gave birth to about six puppies two of which were white. I recieved a picture from my friend and seen the two white ones and immdiately told her that I wanted one of the white ones and when she told me that the little male had one little black patch on his eye I told her that was the one I wanted. He is now a very healthy almost five months old, and the vet did warn me about some of the health issue's and the getting sun burned, but I used some sun block that was spf 30 and he did pretty good outside and he is very vocal which gets quite comical at times, but he is so loving and just wants wants to be giving a chance to be loved and me and my 16 year old son wouldn't give him up for the world!!!

My white Boxer lived a long, happy 14 years and was the best dog on this Earth. He protected the children (my brothers, cousins, family friend's children and myself) yet never barked when it wasn't warranted, never had an issue in any way.
There is a chance that white cats will be deaf and/or blind, have you posted a similar comment on a breeder page for white cats?
No, because the misconstrued information about a (gasp) white dog would be that it was vicious. Let's be realistic here, you care nothing about the health issues they pose...you just have the big, bad wolf notion in your head.

My 17 month old white boxer CueBall is energetic, healthy and absolutely LOVES all other dogs, people, and especially kids. He always makes me smile and is the perfect companion. My brindle was cute, my fawn was awesome and now my white boxer is no less amazing in all respects. People stop me wherever I go with him just to meet him and he adores the attention. Boxers are like humans in that they can be amazing no matter what color they are. The AKC has more faults than the dogs they are prejudiced against. You're just another know-it-all propagandist.

White boxers have no more health issues than a fawn or brindle boxer. They do however carry the recessive gene that increases the chance they may be born deaf. If you are breeding any animal that is not 100% healthy you should be stopped. Breeding should have regulations and responsible breeders should have to have meet certain criteria. There are far to many boxers (and other breeds) in rescues that need a good home!

However, the white gene is recessive and therefore, both the female and male boxer must carry the genetic code for a boxer puppy to come out all white. I too have a WHITE male boxer. he is 12 weeks old, and his name is TYSON. tHE VET SAID HE IS ONE OF THE HEALTHIEST BOXERS HE HAS EVER SEEN, AND HIS ALIGNMENT OF HIS TEETH ARE PROBABLY the best HE HAS EVER SEEN.
he is a very active puppy, and i would never give him uip for another dog.

I came on this site because I just had to put my white boxer,Jack, down because he is very old and lived his full life if not longer than what doctors said he'd live to be. He lived to be 12 years old and was very healthy and at the age of 11 he was still very hyper and playful. Its nice to look at all the dogs on this site because it just reminds me of all the good times me and Jack had and it seems like whoever posted this thread doesn't understand what it's like to have a white boxer because you've never had one.

There is no differance and they are in high demand...i have a white male and right now 2 pups that are white and were wanted in multiple states, that says something. Even if there were a higher rate of problems, they are in high demand...that says something. There would not be so many comments from owners of white boxers if this were the case. Read the breed history and learn your facts...boxers were originally all white then the genetics were altered so that they would not be so visible....hmmm....strange...all white then changed??? Guess they were okay once before for a long time! It was breeders that altered their color due to their preferences based on their needs...no differant than deciding whether or not to dock their tales or get their dewclaws removed.

I have had the pleasure of having Boxers in my life for the last 20 years and every single one holds a special, individual place in my heart but I must say; my latest pal, Boomer, is the greatest Boxer love of my life. He is a 7 month old white Boxer pup and he does nothing but amaze and surprise me every single day. He is my first white Boxer and his coloring actually accentuates the normal "Boxer" personality and traits. He is comical, uncannily intelligent, goofy, loyal and over the top friendly. He is healthy, strong and happy. He does the "Good Morning!" crab-walk just like my "colored" brindle Boxer did and loves people, kids and other dogs. I can't tell you how many people stop me when I'm walking him to ask where I got him or just to simply comment on what a wonderful, unique and friendly dog he is. I could not have dreamed of a better dog companion. You need to check yourself before you start posting comments about dogs, or better yet breeds that you don't seem to have a clue about. I respect your right to freedom of speech but apparently, you know nothing about the fact that being a "white Boxer" makes absolutely no difference to a Boxer dog! In fact, it makes no difference to a white Boxer dog owner so perhaps you should do a little more research before you mouth off or take your comments elsewhere.....

Most people don't set out to breed white boxers. As the site states, it is a recessive trait. As for health problems, all dog breeds have health issues. You never know if your dog is going to be ill. A good owner takes their puppy to the vet for shots and an initial checkup and continues to take the to the vet throughout their life. i have owned many breeds of dogs (rottweilers,labs,shih-tzus, boxers, and mixed breeds)and health issues are a fact of life. People get sick - so do animals. My point is white boxers are good dogs, they deserve love, and if you don't feel that way don't own one.

You don't breed white with white to make white boxer puppies, it doesn't work like that. A fawn and a fawn or an brindle and a fawn, or a brindle and brindle can make white puppies. They do! Twenty-five percent of ALL boxer puppies are white. Boxers in general are known to have possible tumors or hearing loss, just like other breeds have different health problems associated with them. The myth about white boxers started with breeders making up lies as a justification for euthanizing the white pups at birth because they couldn't make as much money on them (white boxers can not be considered for show because they don't have the qualifying markings). Telling people to stop breeding white boxers is like telling a human couple not to have a red headed child, if they both carry the trait it's going to happen. Who cares, and who's to say that child wouldn't be as healthy as a blond or brunette?! I have a gorgeous one and a half year old named Ace, and the vet days he's one of the healthiest dogs he's ever seen. Do your research before you comment on something you know nothing about, you just look stupid! Too bad you're parents couldn't stop breeding.

My white boxer is almost 3 and he is deaf, but that doesn't mean I would have had him put to sleep or had picked a different just because of the fact. I have a wonderful 8 year old white boxer who is my 4 y.o. granddaughters best friend. When he was born the breeders thought he might be antisocial and a problem as a pet. With puppy, obedience and agility classes , he is the most social dog I have ever had. My vet admires his strenghth and health, my kennel owner wants him if for what ever reason we needed to give him up, THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. He is the gentliest, loving dog who can play as rough as my adult children want to play, and turn around and be dressed up by my granddaughter. I agree that whites should not be back yard bred, the same has any other breed. If you want the great characteristics each breed has you need to have good blood lines, thus white boxers, which come from breeding two flashy boxers. One in four pups are whites. I am so glad I looked long and hard for my perfect friend.

My father owned a brindle boxer who was a very well behaved puppy and dog was also extreamly ill from the age of 6 months until he was put to sleep about a year later. The entire family fell in love with him and we were devistated when he had to be put to sleep. We all tried our best to help by babysitting him and finantialy. About 5 months later after vowing never to own another boxer because of the heartache and easy attachment he was given an all white boxer that could no longer be cared for by her previous owner. She has few light tan freckles on her back and a black nose she is wonderful and she is also healthy. Who ever says white boxers are infearior or of lesser quality are extreamly ignorant

I think every boxer dog has its own personality and are all at risk of some kind of illness. This does not make them a bad dog! For example, My male boxer, I got him at 10weeks old and he was a very healthy loving puppy, but after a month I noticed he was not feeling well and after going to the vet learned he had lime disease. Now he was treated for ticks and we never found any on him, he had got it when he was still living at the breeders but the symptoms dont show for months. But any how I love my boxer and there are no better dogs out there! He is very gentle with our kids who are 4,5,7 and 10! I believe it is likely some one had a bad experience with their dog and this is why the stories started this could have been any dog! My son has ADHD, does this mean that all white boys will have it and we should terminate them? NO. So quit picking on the white boxer!!

Obviously you don't know the breed or have not read what you should to own any dog. I have a beautiful white boxer named Zues who is healthy and awesome. He is such a pleaser dog. Any dog can beat the odds of health problems with their breed by having smart owner's who take care of them, educate theirselves on the breed and give them quality food and care. If you have a boxer with health issues I am sorry. Your breeder probably over bread dogs with health issues and genetic flaws. Boxer are an awesome breed no matter what color if you know how to work with them and bring out the best in their personality.
