Drake and Angel

I got my first white boxer almost six years ago. Not knowing anything about the "white boxer world" I pick him out of the litter because I thought he was rare and different. I had never seen or heard of a white boxer before. Once I got Angel I started doing research and realize that he wasnt as rare as I thougt, infact he was not rare at all! I was just not well educated on the breed. Today I have two white boxers, Angel who will be 6 years old next month and Drake his little brother who just turned three. They are the loves of my life and are not different then a brindel or flashy boxer. They have the same personalities and the same health risks that all other boxers do. Angel does have a blue eye on his right side and he is deaf in that ear but if I didnt tell you, you would never know it! I am now well informed on the boxer breed and train dogs. I have worked with many deaf dogs from the white boxers, dalmations, greatdanes and pitbulls. They are all bright intelligent animals and learn just as quickly as their hearing brothers and sisters. Dogs actually learn hand signals before they learn words so it works just the same when you teach a deaf dog to sit then you do a hearing one. The one thing I do recomend to deaf doggy owners is to always keep them on a leash when they are not ina fenced area and invest in a viberating collar. No, not a shock collar, a viberating one! This will help you grab your pups attention at the dogs park and you can also use it as a tool to teach them coming when called.
I also recommend that you put Baby safe sunscreen on your white pup if they are going to be in the sun alot. Most people dont realize it but they can get burned just let us. I always put it on my two when we have a beach day!
White boxers are GREAT pets and I wouldnt trade mine in for anythng!
