Boxer Dog and Camping...So You're Going And You Wanna Take the Dog
Taking your boxer dog camping can be loads of fun for both you and your pet. However, there are a few things you may want to brush up on...
First things first though....have you taken your boxer dog for a lengthy walk for an hour or more around your own neighborhood?
The reason why I ask is because it is very possible that he or she is not up (physically) for a long hike.
Speaking from experience, we wanted to take our white boxer Blizzard hiking on the Appalachian trail... only to discover that he likes to lie down after ten minutes in the hot sun!
That's fine, but you have to be familiar with your own boxers limitations before you find yourself thirteen miles from the car...
First: Get Prepared
Deciding that you and your boxerdog are going camping is only the first step... there are several things you must do ahead of time to prepare. Preparing well ensures that your trip goes well (and more importantly- you all stay safe!)
Preparing equals Planning- a step that a lot of people decide to overlook...Don't be that person!! planning is critical!!

Get Proper Gear
Ensuring that both you and your boxer dog are equipped with the proper camping gear is extremely important. Items like the backpack seen above are extremely important for both comfort and safety.
this step is even more important as white boxer dogs burn more easily when out in direct sun for long periods of time. And really, let's be honest here...the available camping gear for dogs these days is actually quite stylish....
Plan your Route Ahead of Time
This may sound like an obvious step, but you'd be surprised at the number of people who "wing it" by not having mapped out a specific route to follow while hiking.
Planning the travel route ahead of time enables you to know for sure where water will be, the best place to make camp for the night and how far you've traveled into your hike. Knowing this information makes camping with your boxer dog Safer, easier and less stressful.
